Skilling the Gap: 21 Conversations on Designing Education for Those Left Behind as Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Advance

چکیده
Robotics and artificial intelligence (RAI) is advancing rapidly. These advances risk exacerbating inequalities unless the benefits are shared across society. Education in RAI often aimed at business leaders students. While education designed for these groups needed, it not accessible by everyone, there potential people to be left behind. To understand barriers designing an educational scheme those missed other initiatives, a pilot study was conducted. Twenty-one semi-structured interviews were held with Thought-Leaders, Industry, Adult Educators, Members of Public. A thematic analysis used allow themes previously thought arise. Looking findings through lens leaving no one behind presents three themes, which need addressed successful. First, as well everyday life, needs working RAI. Second, work needed overcome preconceptions. The views learners on RAI, “gatekeeping” experts, attitudes training from industry can create education. Finally, should co-designed communities ensure relevant learners' lives.

Using Virtual Synergy for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Education
Virtual Synergy is a three-dimensional environment for collaboration between humans, software agents and robots. We have created several tools to enable the use of Virtual Synergy as a viable tool for classroom instruction as well as research work. We have created software to enable robots to work inside of a three-dimensional environment of Virtual Synergy as well as libraries for agent creati...

The recent successes of AI have captured the wildest imagination of both the scientific communities and the general public. Robotics and AI amplify human potentials, increase productivity and are moving from simple reasoning towards human-like cognitive abilities. Current AI technologies are used in a set area of applications, ranging from healthcare, manufacturing, transport, energy, to financ...

Intelligent robots, which incorporate artificial intelligence in their controlling software, are the next step in bringing the laboratory robot to its full potential. The areas currently under study in our laboratory are improved user interfaces for laboratory robotics, the integration of object-oriented databases into robot control programs, and strategies to optimize multi-step procedures. Th...
متن کاملArtificial Intelligence On information invariants in robotics *
We consider the problem of determining the information requirements to perform robot tasks, using the concept of information invariants. This paper represents our attempt to characterize a family of complicated and subtle issues concerned with measuring robot task complexity. We also provide a first approximation to a purely operational theory that addresses a narrow but interesting special cas...
متن کاملCommunity Driven Artificial Intelligence Development for Robotics
The robotics have been advanced greatly along with the computer technologies since the 20th century and the improvements in hardware components enabled the development of complicated mobile robots. Grey Walter and Valentino Braitenburg (Iizuka, 2004) developed simple wheeled robots to traverse their environment with light sensors, but these systems were inflexible and nonreprogrammable. To over...
